Ashton made his way down to the lounge. He hadnt been feeling much up to going anywhere outside of his dorm and was certain hed gotten a little sick there over the past two days. Of course he brushed it off, it was probably all in his head. He normally didnt get sick, had immunities like a god. He definitly wasnt associating this sick feeling with Peter and what had happened.
As he rolled onto his side and sighed for the millionth time from boredom he finally managed to pull himself out of bed. Grabbing a book, he hadnt looked at the title but it was one of the things he had a lot of. Not so much that he couldnt carry them, but enough that you could tell he actually did that because he wanted to and not because it made him look smart.
He was dressed in a white button down, slightly wrinkled shirt, black tie, black jacket, dark jeans, and a gray cabby hat. He had ghost of stubble that he normally thought looked really weird on his face. He was well aware of how youthful his face was and whenever he didnt take the time to shave he thought he looked rediculous, but he just didnt have the drive to shave right now.
When he entered the lounge he nearly bumped into a couple of kids leaving. Rolling his eyes he turned back to the room glad that he was, once again, alone in there. Making his way over to one of couches he sat down again, he crossed his legs, 'guy' style, and then pulled his book from the pocket of his jacket. It was only then that he realized he'd grabbed, The Outisders. He hadnt read that book in ages, but he remembered when it had been his favorite. He had been much younger and had read it till the pages fell out. This was probably his third copy of the book and this one looked as though it had seen better days as well.
He remembered imaging himself as a Greaser, he thought it would have been fun to live like that. He felt as though he was like that already, except... there was not greasers and socs and he didnt have his own group that had his back no matter what. It was just him and his stupid father and then... nothing.
Ashton sighed a bit and wiggled his butt to get a bit more comfortable in the corner of the couch as he opened the book, the cover and first pages bending back as if it was natural. Immediately he was reading, but his mind was saying the words before he was actually reading them. It sometimes facinated him how he would read, his mind knowing what it was before his eyes even layed over the words before him. He wondered why he even bothered to read the book he could just go through it in his mind.
Though there was something about reading a book, reading the detail you know thats there and what its going to say. He didnt stop reading. He leaned forward instead, his elbows resting on the leg that crossed up on top. He ignored how the bone of his elbow dug into his knee. It was oddly comfortable. Even his other elbow that dug in just above his ankle.
He was instantly thrown back into the world hed been in growing up, when he was a greaser, taking part in the brawl and kicking so SOC's ass. he had forgotten how much he enjoyed this book. In fact he was so engrossed he was no longer aware of movement or noises around him.

Peter would be lying were he to say that he hadn't been crushed. The way Ashton had acted before had really upset him. It wasn't because Ashton had been a grouch when he woke up, but after that. Every word that had slipped out of Ashton's mouth seemed like it was meant to cut Peter down. Peter was first hurt by the simply phrase 'I'm an adult'. Previously, when they had been watching the Wizard of Oz, Peter had made a comment about not wanting to grow up yet. Ashton had agreed, until it seemed he didn't need to agree anymore. Peter noticed it whether that was the intention or not. His initial reaction was that he would strike back with exactly what Ashton might expect... being that childish boy that would naively chase after something he couldn't have. But what had really changed Peter's mind about how he should react, was Ashton's next couple of ocmments. Ashton basically referred to poor Peter as an object to be used, then continued to say there would be no repeats and it sounded to Peter like Ashton inferred that their night together had been nothing. After Ashton left his room Peter took a while to think about what had happened.
It hit Peter that he had been stupid enough to fall into that trap to begin with, so it was his own fault. Peter didn't think any less of Ashton. No- that was one of the things that bothered him. As upset as he was that Ashton did that to him...he still felt like if he were to see Ashton he would still adore everything about the boy. Any normal person would never speak to him again, but Peter was determined. He didn't want to destroy what could be a good friendhip, but at the same time... Peter didn't want to miss out on something great. Peter didn't plan on starting any of this until at least a week or so had passed by him. That way he could give Ashton a head start before he really got down to the core. It would also give Peter sometime to consult with Taylor, find out just how he should go about it. There were so many thoughts to deal with... trying to save a broken heart was harder than he thought. Peter didn't realize exactly how deep his feelings had been until he was forced to think about it in depth. He honestly believed that letting Ashton get away would be the biggest mistake he could ever make.
Somehow Peter had managed to clear his mind for the day. It was a beautiful day and Peter didn't know why he couldn't enjoy it for what it was worth. The lounge hadn't been Peter's first pick for a destination. Peter had an audition to get to after all. He and Eleanor headed out early down to the Hard Rock club. Entering the club Peter looked around, taking in the scenery. It wasn't quite what he would have expected to get a start in, but it was something and he would just have to live with it. The audition had gone smoothly, though. Sure it was a little more difficult to play with people sitting there listening and waiting for a mistake. But Peter had made it through with a smile. The man who had heard him complimented him saying he had real charisma, a talent worth displaying. And so the following Saturday Peter wouldn't have a reason to stay in his dorm. He would be the reason most people had a reason to leave their dorms. Of that Peter was convinced. After all the heart break of recent times Peter thought he might deserve a break or something.
But as the day progressed Peter found himself getting bored, hence the idea to go to the lounge. On his way to the lounge Peter had begun to talk to a random guy that he had met on the way down there. The conversation was very animated on Peter's part. Conversation on his part was pretty much always pretty animated. He sometimes like to talk with his hands. This conversation was directly on one of his favorite subjects: music. The guy Peter walked with, a boy a bit smaller than him, probably a couple of years younger, definitely sported an interested look. Peter, like a regular gentleman, held the door open, allowing the other boy to walk in before him. He walked in after the black haired boy he was with, sporting a smile that was relatively fake. "No, seriously," Peter said to the boy in what should have sounded like his usualy chipper voice. "I couldn't believe it either. But it was so much better than I could have ever imagined. Sort of like a dream finally coming true...or you know, one of those cliche floating on air moments." He followed up with a laugh that was just as fake as his smile.
The black hair boy turned to look at Peter, smiling, "You're so fucking lucky, you know that?" This caused Peter to smirk, "Yeah, I had a fleeting feeling. But I may not be as lucky as you'd think." The other boy raised an eyebrow, "How? I mean... if you're sure you did that good..." Peter shrugged. He always did tend to dwell on the negative rather than the positive. It was then that Peter noticed Ashton. Peter was surprised that he didn't see him upon entering the lounge, but he turned his attention to the black haired boy, who was sure to keep Peter distracted for a little while. "Hey, I gotta get going, Petey, good talking to you though. Good luck Saturday, though, seriously." Peter was about to say something, but the boy had already left the lounge. Ugh, there was no longer a distraction and that was something that Peter needed or he would end up...
Too late. Peter was already headed toward where Ashton was seated. He smiled a smile he didn't want to smiled and tilted his head to glance and see what Ashton was reading. The Outsiders... a good book. Peter had read it once or twice when he had been in school, but that had been it. "Hey," Peter said as if nothing had ever happened to make him remotely upset with Ashton. "The Outsiders? I like your taste in books." Peter made himself comfortable, leaning back and stretching his legs out as he crossed his arms over his stomach. "I haven't read it in a while though... at least not since senior year." Again with the smile he didn't want to smile. Peter didn't want to make things too awkward. He wanted to talk to Ashton... just hear his voice... but at the same time he immediately wanted to apply the pressire. He didn't know what the best choice would be.

Ashton was coming onto the third chapter when the door opened. He didnt notice, that was until he heard his voice. IT seemed to pull him from whatever trance or what he had and he glanced up to see Peter talking very animately with some black haired kid. he wondered if that was the kid that used to stalk him or if it was just another of Peters friends or ... something else. His stomach twisted as he glanced up, Peter didnt seem to notice him yet and he watched as the guy listened, very interestedly to Peter.
There was an awful taste in his mouth as his gut twisted in a different way and he wanted to slam his fist into the guys face. He had never experienced this before and he didnt like it. He also didnt like the way Peter was talking to the guy and the way the guy looked at him. it didnt matter if the guy may or may not be intersted in Peter that way, he didnt like that look. Ashton tried to ignore the two near the door, or the way when Peter talked his shirt rode up a bit revealing a thin strip of skin. He furrowed his brows down at his book and flipped the page, he hadnt even read the page before and as his eyes scanned this page he realized he wasnt taking in anything. HE tried again, but wasnt able to focus. He refused to look up though.
He heard the boy say he had to leave and he left, he knew Peter was still there, but he pretended as if he was too engrossed in his book. He wasnt sure why he was so ... nervous? no he wasnt nervous there was nothing to be nervous about this is rediculous, He licked his lips, hed remembered lip gloss and his lips tasted of strawberries. He hated that medicated taste of the other stuff and he was not a cherry fan. Ashton leaned back, his back aching a bit from having been in the other position for so long. He swallowed and didnt look at Peter until he said something.
Wha? he looked up at him oh.. yeah.. he shrugged. Classic.. he said. pretty close to the top of my favorite list he added. Ashton turned his attention back to his book, making it look as though he was too into his book to care that Peter was there. of coure he wasnt very convincing since he was still on the same page and wasnt making a move to change it then agian it could just come across as being a very slow reader.
Ashton could feel Peters body heat as if he was nearly on top of him even though he wasnt. He didnt know why he was so attuned to his presence. He was acting like some high school girl hthat was next to her long time crush who was finally paying attention to her. That was just not cool. He was by far not one of those and this behavior, his bodies behavior, was just not acceptable.
Stop being a deuch. You like him whats so wrong with that?
Who asked you?
You did.
Leave me alone. A lot could happen.
You're afraaaaaiiidddd....
Am Not.
Are too.
Not!
To.
Why do I keep talking to myself?
Because you're fucked up.
Shut up!
Actually this is really normal. Then again the fact you are telling yourself its normal in the sense that you're a different person talking to yourself is a little crazy and ... there you go stil doing it.
Inner voice, nuff said....
Ashton blinked shutting his mind up. Sometimes when he started he couldnt stop. it was really irritating. He looked over to peter. Whats Saturday?' he asked then mentally kicked himself and hoped peter didnt pick up on the fact that hed obviously been listening since he'd heard that.

Peter could agree the The Outsiders was a classic and he remembered thinking it was a good book, though he didn't remember much of the plot. His favorite book was Catch-22, but he doubted that Ashton had read that. Peter wouldn't mention it. It would get him started on a whole other excited ranting spree. That was something Peter would need to avoid. He was already pretty lucky that he hadn't lose Ashton's attention alread. Of course, the second Peter thought that Ashton turned his attention back to the book. For a split second Peter frowned. But he was quick to replace it with the smile. He watched Ashton try and concentrate on the book. While he did this he thought about all the people that said it should be easier to smile since it took more muscles to frown than it did to smile.
Peter was sure it took more muscles to frown, but he was sure that it was easier to frown than to smile sometimes. When Peter had heard that as a child he believed that people had to smile a lot to be able to frown...be happy to become sad. That was Peter's life backwards. He started out unhappy, well, not completely. Peter, despite how awful his parents were to him, loved them. They were his parents and that was a bond he wouldn't trade. But it wasn't pure happiness. Peter didn't feel like he was really happy until he came to St. John's.
There wasn't much that Peter could say to that. He could spout off some random fact or something else, but he didn't think that would help conversation any. Peter had hoped it wouldn't be awkward talking to Ashton, but it seemed he was kind of wrong to hope that. Ashton's voice seemed to resonate in his mind as if it were some defense mechanism so that he could remember what it sounded like when there was silence. Peter felt really close to Ashton, but really far away at the same time. He really wasn't that close to the boy and he wasn't quite sure what made him think that. It had to be that they had sex, Peter reasoned in his own mind.
Peter figured it was just the fact that the two of them had been...close like that, and that was why he felt so close when he wasn't. Of course, Peter didn't think about it being the fact that he liked Ashton. Why would he think that? He still didn't think he was a relationship kind of guy. Peter was deep in denial. He was the guy. Peter wanted love...or mostly he wanted to know it existed. A relationship, though a scary thought after his last one, might not seem so bad. No- Peter was sure that it wasn't a good idea to think about relationships. He had only ever seen relationships cause trouble. As much as he thought he liked Ashton enough to break that line of thought... he just wasn't sure it was worth it yet.
When Ashton asked about Saturday Peter shrugged, "I'm going to be playing at the hard rock club that night." He said, thinking about the audition from earlier. Peter would have told Ashton about the audition, but he didn't know about it until during the week he didn't see Ashton, then when he did see Ashton... the stupid audition had been the furthest thing from his mind. "My first actual live performance... I can't wait." He actually smiled a genuine smile thinking about it. "I mean, I've waited almost my whole life to get this far." Yeah, Peter realized that Ashton had to have been listening in on his conersation to know about Saturday, but he didn't care. That just meant that Ashton paid attention to him even when he wasn't sitting there and annoying the crap out of him. "Hey, you should come. I'm gonna be playing your song." He shrugged, "I mean, you don't have to if you don't want to. But if you get curious about the reaction the audience will have to the song, then hey- why not?" Peter chuckled softly as he glanced to Ashton. "I'm going to write a few more to play too. The only bad part is having to take requests"
Peter frowned at the thought, "People are going to request crap. I can just picture it. But I do plan on doing at least ONE guilty pleasure song." He grinned, thinking about the song he intended to play that was his guilty pleasure. Peter enjoyed thinking about the reaction of the audience when he would start playing Hit Me Baby One More Time. Hey- Peter enjoyed playing it and singing along to it was fun too. The song was usually better with two people singing, but Peter was sure he could pull it off solo.

Ashton turned to look at hiim his brows raised. really? thats awsome.. he said with a nod. Good for you... he said genuinely. He really was happy for him, he knew that Peter would blow them away when he got up there and opened his mouth. Seriously the kid could sing... and it also helped a lot that he could play as well.
He nodded. He could only imagine just how excited he was on the inside if this is what hes been waiting for his whole life. Could be your big start he smirked. His voice was sarcastic, but the look on his face was serious. When Peter invited him he shrugged. To be honest he had planned on stopping by anyway. He liked listening to him. Though hed have to stand in the back, Ashton noticed whenever he watched him perform, well... granted itd only been that one time but he was pretty sure if Peter hadnt made the first move, Ashton probably would have. It was an incredible turn on... and even more so with Peter because well.. he was fucking attracted like hell to him.
Yeah sure... I think Im open that day.. he said. Ill stop by he gave another shrug. Ashton turned the page, but wasnt really looking down at it anyway anymore so he let the pages go letting them flutter back closed, the cover being bent away from the rest of the book though. He then tossed the book ontop of the coffee table in front of him, on top of the magazines that were back to being a mess like they always seemed to be when ever he came down. He hadnt bothered to straighten them this time and hed he didnt have as much of an urge as he normally did.
Hmm.. he snorted. Well I'll definitly have to come then. Maybe ill request for you to sing barbie girl.. his eyes glinted teasingly. It would be rather amusing to watch him as he played all the requests. He had no doubts that he wouldnt be able to play any song just as good if not better then the orginal.
Ashton turned a bit so his back was in the corner of the couch, his hand up along the back and his elbow resting on the arm of the couch. He rested his hand ontop of hs thigh and he tilted his head a bit as he looked at peter. So what is your guitly pleasure song? he asked. He actually wanted to know, wondered what he would come up with. He felt like he should know this answer, but he wasnt too sure. They did talk a lot and it all seemed so natural as if hed been talking to him for a lot longer then a mere week.
Ashton was forgetting that he was suppose to be giving him the cold shoulder, or whatever he had planned. As always he relaxed into the conversation. Peter really did have a way with making him feel as though he was talking to someone hes known for a long time and that he actually trusts. His red flags should be going off, but they are slowly dying out. Hed have to change their batteries or something, maybe replace them because they were seriously failing him right now.

Peter smiled, "Yeah, it is pretty awesome. I mean," He paused, "I wasn't really sure I was gonna get the spot, you know?' He had been worried about that. It was one of the things he had mentioned to Cait, but of course she had said he was being stupid in thinking that. "I was up against like thirty other guys. I got to talk to some of them. Most of them had been singing in places alread. Talk about a hope dasher right before an audition." It really had been a downer that all of those guys had been singing in clubs all over Chicago. Peter was amazed that he was able to beat all of them out and claim the top spot.
All of them had been glaring at him as he walked out the door and the rest of them were told to go home. He had felt bad that the others didn't get a chance, but then again, he was also glad that he got the spot. Peter felt like he had a chance of making it out of St. John's for good. Once he did he would never look back. Well, maybe a little. If it did give him a chance to get out, well, he would miss all of his friends...and Ashton. Peter hadn't thought about that. It almost made him want to give it up for good and just stay at St. John's until he was sure his friends could come with him.
When Ashton said it could be his big start Peter laughed. "Yeah, sure. I guess it could be." He looked at Ashton with a bright smile, "A guy's gotta start somewhere, then it's on to the top from there." That also spurred thoughts of leaving St. John's. As much as Peter wanted to be able to stand on his own two feet again in the world... he couldn't help but want to stay with his friends. "It's seems kind of scary though... finally getting a chance to play for an audience." His fear had slowly started to creep back out. Lately he had been able to conquer it, but he didn't wnat to chance it going fail on him. That would be just his luck.
Peter was glad that Ashton said he would try and stop by. There was progress without him having to do anything. That was a little odd, but hey- it was something that he could work with. He watched Ashton toss the book onto the coffee table. This was a good thing considering it meant that Ashton would be paying attention to him instead of the book. "Great, I'll be looking for you." He said with a low chuckle. It was amazing how Peter could completely turn around and act like he wasn't hurt at all. This was a talent that came from years of being hit everytime he dared to cry or act out. Peter learned to cover it up with a smile.
Peter raised an eyebrow, "Barbie girl? Puh lease! I sing that in the shower." He joked, "That and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." Those were only two of his shower catalogue. Peter shook looked around as Ashton asked about what his guilty pleasure song was. He didn't want anyone else to hear it in case they decided to show up. But Ashton was special, he would get a prelude. Peter leaned closer to Ashton, looking around once more. "Shh, it's a secret..." He said in a soft whisper, "But it's Hit Me Baby One More Time." He leaned back with a smile. "Should be super amazing with the slight changes I made to it."

Ashton quirked a brow and shook his head. well thats gotta tell you something.. he said. If you beat those guys, the ones whos obviously got some experience... he shrugged. Should mean more too. You've obviously got what it takes and they see that. Ashton wished he had as much confidence as Peter lookd like he had. IT was strange though, he just seemed like he had all this confidence, when really Peter was just as self critisizing as the next person. He was probably like him and used to being told he was shit so when he had a chance not to be he immediately made himself believe he was crap just incase someone said he was, to lessen the blow. You cant honestly tell me you dont believe you have at least and ounce of belief that you actually are good. Imean why else would you try out. If you thought you sucked ass then I doubt you would actually put yourself up to that when you know youd only be slapped down. he smiked again.
Ashton dropped his gaze to his lap and he shrugged. "yeah well.. I mean you could always do that thing.. he looked up at him quickly. a quick smirk grazing his lips. picture everyone in their underwear. he snorted and laughed lightly under his breath. Or somethiing else im sure.
When he said he sang it int he shower he sighed. Well i have some time to think up something incredibly embarassing e would find something.
When Peter shh'd hiim and leaned forward like it was a secret he had to stop himself from turning his head and kissing him. He smelled good and he could feel his breath on his cheek. As Peter revealed what his guitly pleasure was, Ashton couldnt help but let out a snort and then laugh a little himself. Oh... oh my she added again. And what changes are you referring to, or am I not allowed to know.? he asked riasing his brow. He wasnt sure he wanted to know but at the same time he did.
((OOC:: Omg, so sorry its really bad. I promise a much better one next time))/

Peter shrugged when Ashton mentioned that he must believe that he was a little good or he wouldn't have auditioned. That wasn't exactly the way Peter saw it. He knew that people thought he was good and it was for those people that he auditioned. It wasn't necessarily because Peter thought he had this awesome talent that just shouldn't be passed up. "It is that but it isn't that at the same time." Peter admitted, "I mean... I grew up being told I sucked at everything... not just music. But mostly I'm just nervouse. I never got to play in public because my dad wouldn't let me. Dad would always tell me that people didn't want to--" Peter trailed off. He didn't want to say the rest of it. Just thinking about it made him cringe a little.
Peter, when he remembered it, could remember his father's drunken voice saying, 'people didn't want to see wasted talent on a piece of shit kid'. Of course Peter could also remember his mother's distant, uncaring voice in the background saying, 'let the little fucker do what wants. Most musicians are drug addicts anyway.' He shook his head, forcing the memories back. "Never mind, that's not important." He covered up quickly. "I'm just not good at taking compliments. I actually haven't had that many compliments on my playing or singing until I came here."
When Ashton suggested picturing everyone in their underwear he laughed, "That might work." He said with a smile. "I don't know if my imagination is that vivid, but hey- it's worth a try." He then wrinkled his nose, imagining acutally doing that. "Ew, never mind. There might be some people in the audience that wouldn't be a good sign in their undies." Peter suddenly thought that it wouldn't be very hard to imagine Ashton in his underwear since he had already seen the real deal before. Not that Peter would imagine the whole time that Ashton was in his underwear... that would be distracting. But since that was the thought that crossed Peter's mind he could definitely imagine Ashton in his underwear right at that moment. At least he couldn't seem too distracted since it was just a conversation. Peter could just be thinking about something else.
Peter grinned, "Oh you can try your best to embarrass me. I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with." He said with a laugh. "All I really did was speed up the tempo a little and shorten some of the drawn out notes." He explained. It wasn't many changes, but some of the simpler changes could completely change the mood of a song so Peter knew that he had to be careful with it. "I get to play two originals...like my own stuff, though. So I'm going to play the one I wrote for you, which I've yet to name.,," He paused, thinking for a moment, "And I guess I'll need to write another by saturday." He said with a laugh.
Normal people would worry about that. Peter didn't have all that much time to write a completely new song, but he was sure if he found a quiet spot and really concentrated, then he could definitely crank another out by Saturday. It wouldn't be too hard, at least he hoped that it wouldn't be too hard. Peter didn't think it would go over well if he showed up with less than what he was asked to bring. Peter needed to be able to show that he could preform under pressure. It was his ultimate chance to prove his father wrong. That had to be worth something. Part of Peter wished his dad would show up to hear it and maybe Alex, who had always believed he was better than Peter in the music field anyway.

Ashton seriously had a strong urge to hurt someone, well that someone was Peters dad, but he couldnt unfortunately. He moved so he could hid his fists under his legs. Mmm... he nodded a bit. Peter really didnt have to finish his sentence hed been around enough negativity that he could probably guess all kinds of things that would probably be around the same thing if not the exact thing. His lips screwed up in a thoughtful yet slightly pissed off frown. He wished he had known peter before, known his parents, been there to shut his parents the fuck up. They really did a number on Peter. He may seem bright and happy on the outside, but just by talking to him and that little flicker in his eyes every now and then.... hed really like to slam his fist into his fathers face.
yeah... I dont doubt that. Looks like you're gonna have to get used to getting compliments. Especially in the big world. Im sure you're already used to critism, because it doesnt matter how talented you are, theres always gonna be some asshole or deuchbag thats going to say some shitty thing about you whether its true or not. he relaxed some, his hands hurt from being in fists as tight as they were and having his bony legs on them. He pulled them out, they were slightly red from the pressure and had lines from his pants indented on them. He rubbed them out and shrugged. Take lessens, find a way to field off the compliments. Just nod and say thanks.. or something.. he shrugged again.
Ashton snorted and ran a hand through his hair. I dunno. I said Id be there, you can picture me in my underwear.. he said and gave him a look that could very well be classified as flirting. Shouldnt be too hard.. he shrugged again. If you asked him why he was going down that road, he wouldnt be able to tell you. In fact it would seem his mind and mouth was at war again. They just did not want to cooperate with each other whenever he was around Peter.
Oh just wait and see... ill come up with something... great he was already coming up with an idea. Though I have a feeling you are going to take the song and have a blast with it.... possibly. he drummed his fingers on his thigh. Mmm.. well it sounds like it could be interesting. Im not a big britney Spears fan, so if you can make me like the song, or... at least get me to listen through it then well... maybe Ill stick around after the show, tell you exactly what I thought of your performance... he quirked his brow a bit.
You dont have another one yet? he asked. I would have thought youd have a couple songs at least. he licked his lips a bit. Write something thats emo but dance poppy at the same time. OR well.. I mean you dont have to, Im not saying that, just a suggestion. I mean... People might like it. Do something that someone else hasnt done.. sound wise... he added then stopped, he should shut up. This was his thing and he was probably just addng to the pressure. Nevermind.. ignore me he said waving off the conversation.
In any case IM sure whatever you decide to do will be .... great. he really just had this huge need to encourage Peter on this. It wasnt something he felt bad for that he needed to, well on some level, but it didnt matter, it was the truth anyway, everything that he said to peter. He was amazingly talented an dhe had a voice people could only wish they had. Peter needed all the encouragement and positivity he could get, something to make up for all the negative he got when he was younger. AShton could do that, he wasnt above it. Peter seriously deserved it.

If it weren't for music, then Peter would have failed in childhood. He couldn't help but believe that. Music was the only thing the had growing up that didn't beat him, call him names, reject him, use him, or cheat on him. Music was the only thing that stayed with Peter during the hard times when his mother left and his father got a little bit more brutal. Peter honestly didn't know much about what he blieved about other things. He could for opinions on the spot, but as for what he actually believed in... music did really seem to be his religion. That was something no one could deny about Peter. When things got tough Peter had always turned to the music.
Upon thinking that Peter couldn't help but wonder if he had gotten where he was because there were so many bad times. He knew that his childhood and teenage years were what had really molded him into who he was. Peter had taken all that shit and turned it into a positive attitude. Not many could say the same. After he had run away Peter had actually cried once... but it was only a small tear because he remembered his father hitting him for crying. Since then Peter took insults as they came and refused to cry about it. Most of that was fear...pure fear.
Peter listened to Ashton speak and watched carefully, taking in every quiet action. He suppressed the urge in him to reach out there and do that for Ashton. His blue eyes focused on Ashton's hands for a moment, thinking about how nice it would be just to lace his fingers through Ashtons, kick their feet up and just...relax together. That was a rediculous thought and Peter tossed it as soon as it came. Obviously Peter knew he had feelings for Ashton since he was considering all of these seriously romantic actions rather than obnoxious lusty ones. Peter didn't wnat to think about what that meant quite yet. He wasn't ready for that, but he was ready to have some sort of hope. Peter shrugged, figuring he needed to respond, "I guess you're right." He said with a smile, "One day I'll learn... I think.
His usual soft laugh floated through his vocal cords at Ashton's next comment. "True, well I was going to try and NOT picture you in your underwear." Peter said with a smile, "I didn't think you would really want me to do that." Obviously Peter had already seen Ashton's body even beyond underwear. If his mind really went that way, then he could just say that he could imagine Ashton a step or so farther. That wasn't a bad thought, either. It definitely caused Peter to brighten his smile. Though his smile faded as he was forced to realize that Ashton, once again, was technically off limits to him. There was no way a guy like Ashton would ever like Peter like that. Right?
Peter was really curious about what Ashton would pick for him to play, but he didn't want to ask about it. No- he wanted to be surprised Saturday night. That would be so much fun. He chuckled when Ashton said he didn't like Brittany Spears. "I'm not a huge fan of B.Spears. But I started doing that cover for my friend Cait. She thought it was hilarious. So I just kept messing with it till I did like it." And that was the story behind the Brittany Spears cover. He shook his head when Ashton seemed surprised he hadn't written another. Nothing else had inspired Peter to write much other than Ashton. "No-" Peter said quickly, "I like hearing your ideas. And I even think you're right. I like the idea of the dance style. It would be something new at least." He stared off in thought, thinking it over in his head. It would work perfectly actually.
Somehow when Ashton spoke words of encouragement Peter felt his spirits lift higher than they ever had. It was probably just because he wasn't used to recieving that kind of encouragement. But it seemed real coming from Ashton and Peter really appreciated that. He needed someone to really sit down and drill it into his head that he was good enough to make it and that he was a great musician. Peter sometimes had a hard time believing it on his own, but with Ashton believing it...well, Peter felt a lot more open. "Thanks..." Peter said, trying to get used to compliments. "That really means a lot."

Ashton shrugged. Yeah... okay.. he said. Ashton knew it probably would always be wierd to get compliments for Peter. If he put himself in his position he knew hed never get used to it. Hed probably avoid any situation that would put him in that kind of a position. He hated feeling uncomfortable, it just was not something he liked.
Ashtons brows went up. Why not? he asked and then smirked. Well I dunno. Would you be able to handle picturing me in my underwear and be able to concentrate on your music at the same time. He slid his arm back up around the back of the couch again, getting himself comfortable again. It really doesnt matter what id want or not, its a free country, you're allowed to do what you'd like.. he said as he leaned back some, shrugging his shoulders again. The thought of Peter actually having thought about picturing him in his underwear pleased him and was kind of a turn on. Ashton turned his face from peter, his eyes focusing on his other hand along the arm of the couch as he picked at a loose thread.
Ashton repeatedly told himself in his head to stop doing what he was doing. He was so out of character that it was unnerving for him whenever he realized it.
Love makes you do crazy things....
Ashton bolted up at that. What the fuck! NO!
Lust...
NO! NO! NO! He put his hands in his hair, gripping it to make the voice stop. STOP IT! STOP IT! STOP IT!
ha ha ha!, sit down you fucking phsyco
Ashton turned quickly to look at Peter and then sat down. He licked his lips debating on making up some excuse why hed just freaked out for no reason or pretending it never happened. Excuses were overated. Yeah?... you play around with the other teen boppers like N'sync and Backstreet boys and... Otown, 98 degrees... he stopped. Shit I can not believe I fucking was able to name all of those.. he cringed a bit and gave a slightly awkward laugh.
Ashton stopped a moment and looked at him. He actualy like hearing his ideas and thought they were good. Ashton gave a small confused sigh and fell back his arms crossed in front of him as he stared at Peter trying to figure him out. On one hand he oddly trusted Peter and felt like he was the real deal but on the other hand he just wasnt sure if he should throw any kind of untrust out the window. Maybe he did want something, though he had no idea what he could offer PEter that hed actually want. He was a nobody with nothing. So if he was trying to get something out of him, hed be sorely disappointed.

Peter laughed when Ashton asked him why he didn't think Ashton would want him picturing him in his underwear. Had Peter been mistaken in thinking that Ashton wasn't interested at all? Maybe he had. Peter didn't like misreading people, but he knew that it was possible for sure. He could never really tell about Ashton and that was a little scary. There was a certain good quality to knowing what to expect from someone. But Ashton always surprised him. Sometimes Peter liked being surprised, but some times it kept him puzzled. "Hm, I don't know." Peter mused with a smile, "I guess we could find out."
And that was Peter's sick attempt at flirting. He didn't feel as bad about flirting since Ashton was too. Peter hadn't expected Ashton's reaction. There was no warning... no sign that he was about to snap. His brown eyes widened as Ashton suddenly stood up. It wasn't the kind of standing up that meant someone was calmly leaving the room... no, it was more like a hysterical kind of insane jumping up. Peter didn't know what to think about it really. Well, that was until Ashton started yelling. He watched, eyebrows knit, and jaw slightly dropped as Ashton started grabbing at his hair. Had he done something wrong?
When Ashston sat back down he thought about asking if he were okay, but he didn't get a chance before Ashton started talking normally again. He looked at Ashton, confused. Peter smiled nervously, not wanting to cause another outbreak like that. "Hah, I'll have to try some of those. " He wasn't sure if he actually would. None of them really seemed to suit his fancy, but he chuckles upon remembering something he had seen a while back. "Speaking of N'Sync... Justin Timberlake was hilarious on Saturday Night Live." He said, laughing just thinking about it. "He did a skit called Dry Eyes, and it was like this game show where you have to go the longest without crying. Well, Justin made it to the bonus round and he had to listen to all these sad songs and not cry during them."
Peter smikled, "They played a few songs, but I can only really remember My Heart Will Go On and Cat In the Cradle. Justin's facial expressions were pricelss." Peter didn't get to watch SNL as much as he would like, but he did remember that episode specifically. "Anyway, sorry for rambling on like that." He apologised. "You know how I tend to ramble." Peter smiled, "I swear it's not natural." He laughed nervously, still thinking about what Ashton had done earlier. It had really freaked Peter out a little bit. But it wasn't the thought of Ashton acing bizarrely crazy like that that bothered him the most. No- the thing that bothered Peter the most was that he thought he might have been the cause of it. Peter sighed, thinking that he probably shouldn't have flirted back with Ashton.
Bit that was something Peter just couldn't help. He lingered on everything Ashton had to say and when it sounded like Ashton would actually work with him a little bit rather than be distant and cold, well, Peter wanted to take it. Next time he would be a little bit more wary. The most random thought popped into his head about whether or not he would really be able to concentrate on playing if Ashton were there. He knew that he would be able to play fine, but would his mind be somewhere else? Peter didn't doubt that Ashton would be a small distraction, but he figured more along the lines that he would be playing more for Ashton than for the audience anyway.

Ashton was kind of on edge, but mostly because he was well aware that he probably just freaked Peter out. In fact he wouldnt be surprised if Peter thought he was some kind of psychotic wierdo and never wanted to see him again. Maybe it was for the best. Unfortunately that didnt make him feel very good. The thought of actually never seeing peter, even though hed been the one doing the avoiding the other days, well it just didnt sit well and besides he always seemed to run into him anyway.
Oh.. no I um... must have missed that. Sounds like it was funny as hell though. he nodded as he listened to peter explain what the skit was all about. He usually liked to watch it whenever he remembered to turn it on. HE wasnt the biggest fan of Justin Timberlake, at least as s singer. He actually found him kind of funny as an actor so as long as the guy wasnt singing he could tolerate him. Ashton just shrugged him off when eh appologized. Whatever... he said. He didnt care really he was actually glad for it. It would take away more of the weirdness from his outburst.
Ashton scratched the back of his neck and stood up again, this time not from outburst. He stretched, his back was stiff. Im fucking hungry... he mumbled aloud but to himself. He picked up his book and slid it into the pocket of his jacket and glanced over at Peter. Im gonna go get some food... he moved around the table and then stopped turning back to him again. Um.. you can... come too he shrugged. If you want. I dont know if you've eaten recently or not.. he shrugged again.
Ashton licked his lips realizing they were dry again and reached into his pocket to pull his lip balm out. He was so happy to have remembered it. Seriously he hated chapped lips, it was one of his highest pet peeves. Taking the cap off he ran it over his lips before replacing the cap and putting it back in his pocket quirking a brow at Peter as he waited for him to reply. Not a big deal really if you dont want to.
Ashton wondered if it sounded as if he was asking him out or something, because really he wasnt. He didnt think peter would think that.... would he? Ashton didnt know. Maybe he was asking him out, he didnt ask people to go places with him and yet here he was offereing for Peters company. He didnt do this shit maybe he was subconciously asking him out. Shit...
He looked at Peter his lips firming somewhat in very slight panic. No, no. It was a friendly offer. People who asked people out made it sound like it was intent, but he didnt. He was casual about it. Sure he would like if Peter came but he wasnt going to make that obvious. He was just over analyzing. Peter wouldnt think that way, hed probably turn him down anyway after everything that had happened with him sleepign with him and then just now with his freak out. Seriously Peter probably had him filed away under 'seriously fucked up' and a huge. 'keep away' underneath of it. Smart man ... smart man.

Peter was worried about Ashton. He wondered for a moment if he should just hang back and give Ashton some space. Causing Ashton any sort of outbreak like that had not been Peter's intentions. Peter didn't want to think that he was hurting Ashton like that. He wasn't surprised that Ashton hadn't seen that particular skit with Justin Timberlake. Peter had been lucky to see it. He needed to stay quiet and let Ashton talk some. The thing about Peter was that he hated thinking that people felt ignored.
So naturally Peter would talk to anyone that looked like they were in need of attention. Peter naturally tried to help people feel better because he knew how if felt to hit rock bottom with no warning. With Ashton it was different. Peter didn't think that Ashton needed him as much as he wished Ashton did. It wasn't natural for Peter to feel this way... to feel like he needed someone more than they needed him. Peter had always tried to fend for himself, but this time he felt like he needed to see Ashton and needed to hear his voice. He had never felt like he needed something more. The thought was scary to Peter. Peter didn't know if he should feel so strongly about someone. The last time had hurt so much... he wasn't sure if he needed to risk that kind of hurt again.
Watching as Ashton stood Peter wondered if there would be another random outburst, but Peter smiled when Ashton announced that hewas fucking hungry. He liked how Ashton put everything so bluntly. At least Peter never had to guess at things. One thing Peter was not expecting was an invitation to join him. Peter didn't know what to think about it. The words themseles might suggest that Ashton was asking him out, but Peter, despite what little time they had spent with eachother, was sure that he knew enough about Ashton to know that couldn't be the case. It was that thought that made Peter wonder about whether or not he should turn it down. Turning it down shouldn't have been a choice at all. Peter knew that he would normally jump at the chance, but there was also the possibility that he had caused the previous outburst. He felt like he had done enough damage.
Peter stood slowly, facing Ashton. Ashton had said he didn't have to go. He knew that he should turn it down, that he should tell Ashton he had already eaten and go back to his room to snack on junk food. But that would be a lie. Peter didn't like lying to people as much as he didn't like being lied to. "I, um, sure." Peter said, despite his former thoughts about turning Ashton down for that offer. "I'm actually really hungry." He answered with a smile. Peter's head was spinning. He didn't know what to think about how Ashton was acting. One moment the boy was fine the next he was freaking out...now... Peter wasn't sure how to take it.
Naturally Peter related it to a song, thinking of Hot and Colt by Katy Perry. This song wasn't one of his favorites, but it was something that he could use to relate to the situation. Biting his lower lip Peter tilted his head, "What's on your mind?" He asked, meaning more along the lines of 'what do you want to eat?' Peter tugged at the bottom of his shirt, smoothing it out. He pushed his glasses up on the bridge of his nose, watching Ashton carefully.

Ashton wasnt sure if he was actually going to take him up on his offer and when he didnt reply right away he started for the door figuring that was a no. He wasnt going to let himself be disappointed, even though there was that feeling deep in his gut. He hated that. Hated how he could be disappointed just because Peter didnt say yes when he asked. what was with him asking anyway. He should just keep his mouth shut, the less he did with Peter the less he would have to deal with.
The thing that really bothered him was he really couldnt deny to himself anymore that if he actually let it, he could really like Peter and definitly more then just a friend. Ashton moved to open the door when Peter finally answered him and he looked over his shoulder unable to hid the surprise in his face right away. Ashton blinked his eyes instantly sheilded now as he schooled his expression and nodded. Alright.. he said. You ready then? he asked unsure if Peter needed to do anything like change or.. get a sweater or put shoes on. He hadnt looked, he probably had shoes on. Ashton mentally rolled his eyes at his stuipid thoughts. Shoes? Really? They were in the damn lounge. Then again it was the lounge which was part of the school and he had seen some people barefoot around here. It wasnt that far off. What the hell was he obsessing over this for anyway. ITs rediculous and yeah....
He let his hand drop to his side and placed his hands in his pockets waiting for Peter to do what he had to do so they could go. At his question he looked back over at Peter and shrugged. Dunno.... There a chinese place around here... Or Pizza? he shrugged again. I dont really think about that till Im near a place. I just know Im hungry and not specific... though chinese would be good... he tilted his head a bit as if thinking and then nodded.
Why did you have something in mind? I honestly dont care so if you want something specific... let me know. he waved his hand a bit in a whatever manner before putting it back in his pocket. God now he was rambling, what the fuck was wrong with him. He was nervous and he had no idea why. It wasnt like earlier so what was his deal now? Ashton scowled a bit to himself, he really needed to stop thinking.
