Peter didn't know what to say when Ashton started to walk away. He didn't want it to end like that. When Peter was finally able to find his words Ashton's surprised look didn't get past him. Peter still wasn't all that sure that he had made the right decision in accepting Ashton's offer for food. It would seem a lot like a date and Peter didn't know if he needed to think in that direction. He would have to spend the majority of the time convincing himself that Ashton just wasn't that into him. There were times when Peter thought that Ashton might be close to returning his feelings, but over all... Peter didn't think Ashton liked him that way. He was okay with that, but part of him wanted to persist and finally convince Ashton that it was possible for them to be... wait- what was he thinking?! Peter had never wanted a relationship after Alex, and he wasn't sure why he was starting to think like that. He brushed it off as thinking that way because Cait had a relationship that was healthy and fnctioning and he couldn't even manage to have a one night stand the right way. Yeah, that had to be it.
Peter looked down as if to see for himself if he were ready. There had been times where he had just forgotten that he wasn't wearing a shirt or something and would walk out. But he wanted to make sure. He probably looked a little silly. But Peter looked up with a smile, "Yep, I'm ready." He said almost cheerily despite his earlier tone. Peter hoped Ashton didn't mind that. He was used to being cheery and happy around his friends and he didn't think Ashton should be denied the real Peter Walker. Or was it the real Peter Walker? Peter wasn't really sure about that anymore. He would have to spend a lot of time getting to know himself. That day he had met Ashton, well, Ashton seemed like he knew what he belived in and Peter was stuck there trying to figure out what he believed in on the spot. That wasn't the way he was supposed to do things and Peter knew that. But he still tried to figure some things out after that.
Finding out where to eat always seemed to be the hard part, but Peter wasn't too upset about that. He shrugged, "I don't really have any preferences." He said with a laugh, "I can handle just about anything, but Chinese sounds good... so if you want to go there, then I wouldn't complain." Peter walked over to where Ashton stood. He reached out as if he were going to take Ashton's hand, but he remembered that Ashton wasn't into the whole hand holding thing and he dropped his hand back to his side. Hand holding wasn't much for Peter considering he held hands with all of his friends.
It probably looked weird, but Peter liked the security of friendship. Holding hands seemed to emphasize that he felt safe with the friendship. It was a good thing that Cait and Taylor were used to it or he might be in a bad spot. Other people might not be okay with it, but most of those people weren't his best friends. Peter sighed softly, thinking about what it would be like to walk and hold hands with Ashton... acting like a normal couple.
Whoa- there he went with the couple thoughts again. Peter couldn't believe the direction his thoughts were moving in. It had him pretty confused and he didn't like confusion, that was for sure. "I'm, uh, ready to go if you are." He said finally, trying to figure himself out. Peter would definitely have to think about a lot of things reguarding Ashton... like his feelings and how out of character he was acting. It was strange and it made Peter wonder if he was so different with everyone...then which one was the real Peter? Could they all be the real Peter? He wasn't sure anymore. Maybe he would find the answer in a fortune cookie.
