He plays tough because he doesn't want to hurt anyone else, but in actuality he's lonely. There are a few people he talks to, but he's usually rather shady about his past. People here don't care about the details. It's why he likes it.

History excerpt :: Having hit an all time low, his grandmother knew exactly where to send Leo. St. Johns in Illinois. It was far enough away from his house to keep his parents at bay and held in high enough esteem that she trusted them with her angel. The fact that Leo hadn't actually spoken to anyone in two years never crossed her mind. Even now, as he is enrolled at St. John's, he rarely speaks more than he has to. Leo is much more content to sit quietly and observe rather than be the center of attention. Talking is one of the many things they're trying to work him through. It's not as easy as one may think.

History excerpt :: Naturally, being a caring mother and a doctor, Kaitlin’s reaction to the entire fiasco was to send Azrael off to a teen rehabilitation center locally in Illinois. Also naturally, Azrael’s reaction was to fight and claim he was fine. The scars on his wrists were certainly telling a different story though. Michelle [his sister] took the news horribly and refused to talk to Azrael until he gave in to their mother’s demands. Perhaps that was the defining factor in his admittance that he needed out of the house. Azrael was permitted to graduate with his grade, since it was only a week away, but the next day he was kissed off by the women of his family.
