Ashton watched the dog as it, for the millionth time, made his way around the room sniffing everything.
You better not piss on my shit dog. he warned and the dog merely glanced back at him and continued on its exploration.
Seriously you should know this place like the back of your... paw or .. whatever. he waved his hand a bit. With a sigh he pulled out a little baggy filled with joints and took one out. He had some time before he had to take the dog over to Peters.
Biting his lip he glanced over to the dog and watched him. He let out a deep sigh and shook his head. There was no way he could take care of a dog, besides he reminded him too much of a puppy he had found when hed was younger. It was just after his mom had left and it had instantly stolen his heart. He knew he couldnt tell his dad about it, because his dad was allergic and as far as he knew hated animals.
He remembered passing out on the couch one night, the puppy next to him and his dad came home. He saw the dog and started flipping out on Ashton. The puppy was so scared it ended up peeing all over the couch. His dad exploded and ashton did all he could to get the puppy away from his dad, but it was so small it didnt take much. He hated his dad more than anything after that and he never let himself bring another pet home again. Ashton wondered if his dad had always been like this or if it was only because his mother was gone that he was able to show his true colors. He just didnt understand people it was best not to get mixed up with them becuase you never know when you are going to see their true side.
The time passed quickly and Ashton was nearly dozing out at his desk when he remembered he was suppose to take the puppy down to Peters. Standing up and stretching he glanced over to the puppy that was curled up asleep on his bed. He sighed and walked over, gathering the dog up in his arms. The puppy fell back onto his back his tubby little belly exposed as he lifted his paws up a bit stretching and yawning. Ashton grinned and scratched his belly.
Wakey wakey sleepy head he laughed lightly and bent his head to nuzzle his nose against his soft neck. he manuevered him so he was laying against his shoulder and then walked over towards the door to grab the dog food hed just bought after talking on the computer.
We're gonna go take you someplace safe.. he sighed and walked out heading down to Peters room.
The puppy wiggled in his arms and started to sniff against his ear. Ashton sqinted and laughed. stop that.. he said but couldnt since his hands were full now. He sighed and let the puppy do it. he then felt his tongue licking him and he shook his head. No.. he stopped in front of Peters door and set the food down so he could move the puppy around front to look at him.
Now you have to be have.... hte dog gave him a look and he sighed, frowning some. dont look at me like that. Its gonna be okay. You cant stay with me, Im bad luck.. he hugged the puppy to him stroking his back sofly. He could do this. He hadnt even named the puppy yet figuring it would help keep his distance. He pressed a small kiss to the puppys big ear and squeezed him gently one more time before lifting his hand to knock on peters door.
It was going to be okay. He could just thrust the dog in his arms, tell him good luck and walk away. Easy as pie...

A puppy... it was an unusual kind of gift, but it was something Peter could work with. As a kid Peter had never been allowed to have a pet. There was a ferret of his neighbor's that he took a liking to, but that really wasn't his pet. Peter thought through some different names as he waited on Ashton to get there. He had been trying to write some lyrics, but had been distracted by chatting and crosswords. It was a strange way to be distracted, but most of the time his friends gave him the best muse and crosswords helped him think of creative ways to say things.
Peter didn't think it was strange at all. The muse was overflowing as soon as Ashton showed up. He had never seen Ashton use the chat before because he was sure that he would have met Ashton way before the lounge if he had. Peter ended up turning that laptop he had borrowed from the library off and shutting his lights off. Being in the dark always helped him think more about his writing. It was sort of calming and Peter liked that. He needed to just relax and feel instead of sitting there worrying about every other thought that crossed his mind. Peter moved back toward his bed, expertly finding it in the darkness.
Peter crawled up on his bed, sitting cross-legged and closing his eyes. There were so many thoughts to sort through. He had to find just the right ones to twist into lyrics. A familiar tune played through Peter's head. It was shattered by OAR. Peter thought the lyrics, letting them sink in. Such a great song... and it reminded him of so much. The chorus reminded him of the whole thing between himself and Ashton. 'How many times can I break till I shatter? Over the line can't define what I'm after...' That was how Peter felt. He didn't think he knew what exactly he wanted out of staying in touch with Ashton, but he knew it would be worth it in the end... it had to be. He sighed, shoving the song out of his mind and falling back on his bed, frustrated.
Not one idea had popped into Peter's head. The want was there... the need was there... but the feeling just wasn't there. Peter didn't know how to magically make the feeling appear, but he wished that it would. No matter how much Peter tried to concentrate on thinking about lyrics his thoughts drifted back to Ashton. The whole situation had him too preplexed to even think about writing. Every word would undoubtedly be referring to Ashton. That wouldn't be so bad, would it? Well, that depended on who was listening. Ashton was going to be there and Peter didn't doubt that Ashton would be able to tell if the song was about him or them or whatever. Luckily there was a knock at his door that distracted him from his thoughts. At least Peter knew who was on the other side of the door. There was only one person that had said anything about coming to his room.
Peter shuffled over toward the door, flipping on the light as he got over that way. He put on a smile and slowly opened the door. Instead of first looking at Ashton like he thought he would, Peter greeted the puppy first. It really was more adorable in person. Peter reached out and carefully pet the puppy with a smile. He loved animals, well, aside from the one cat of Taylor's that had managed to get a little too curious about Eleanor and scratch the poor girl. "Hey," He said, finally looking up to Ashton with a smile. "Come on in if you want..." Peter offered. At least this time Ashton was sober and could deicide rationally if he wanted to come on or not. Peter nervously tugged at the sleeves of his jacket as he waited for Ashton's reaction.
OOC//icky! sorry xD

Ashton was sure he could just give the puppy to Peter and leave, but as Peter opened the door Ashton literally blanked out. He completely forgot why he was even there or what he was suppose to be doing. That was until Peter greeted the puppy, petting him. Ashton blinked and cleared his throat as he looked down at the puppy whod burried its way into his neck again. PEter was then greeting him and he nodded a hey to them his eyes moving from peter to the room behind him as he was invited in.
He should say no. Hed already had his plan so all he had to do was open his mouth and say no. Instead he found himself nodding as he stepped into the room, turning back to grab the dog food and then moved further in so Peter could close the door. Um.. hey yeah... so.. sorry for um... crashing in on you and all. he looked down at the puppy, setting the food down he brought his hand back up to stroke the dogs fur. You know you dont have to take him if you dont want to. Im not trying to guilt you into it. I know dogs can be a lot of responsibility and I dont want you to just be excited because its a puppy. I need you to be serious. he turned to Peter. Do you promise you can take care of him? I can always find someone else to take care of him. I am not going to just hand him off on someone. he was rambling he knew, but he couldnt help it.
You're young and busy with life and... I dont want you to feel bogged down. You really need to be sure. he said, his eyes not moving from Peter. He felt the puppy lick him again and he forgot for a moment what he was doing as he averted his gaze to the puppy a soft smile touching his lips and even made his eyes light a little bit. He scratched behind the puppies ears.
He mentally shook his head and turned back to Peter. I b rought dog food, I can get him a dish and collar and stuff. Do you have a name for him? You have to make sure it fits him, fits his personality. I mean I havent seen anything really jump out at me, but I wasnt really thinking of one.. LIAR!!!!
Hey you, stop that.. he laughed lightly again as he licked him again. He could pull him away from him, but he couldnt seemed to make his body do so. Pulling him away meant he was closer to giving him away and he kind of didnt want to.
{{OOC:: yours wasnt icky. Mine is!!!}}

Moving aside as Ashton walked in Peter waved off Ashton when he said that he was sorry for crashing in on him. Peter didn't know how much it would take to get Ashton to realize that he didn't care if the boy came over any time of the day. Generally Peter left his room unlocked during the day for his friends to come and go as they pleased. Of course Peter couldn't risk Eleanor being stolen. He had a special hiding spot for Eleanor and his journal. As of yet no one had discovered it. Peter smiled as he closed the door behind him. "Really, Ashton, it's okay. You can come here any time." He said before Ashton started to speak. Peter raised an eyebrow, listening to Ashton go on about not guilting him into it and puppies taking a lot of responsibility. Ashton sounded a lot like a worried parent rather than a boy wanting to give a puppy a new home.
Peter's lips firmed into a line as Ashton said that he was still young and busy with life. He wondered where this was going. From the sound of it Ashton didn't really want to give up the puppy. Peter kept his dark brown eyes trained on Ashton as he spoke. He would listen to every word before saying anything about it. That would be the best course of action. The moment Peter saw Ashton smile that way... the brightness of it reaching up to his eyes, adding more depth to them than Peter had ever seen in them before, well, in that moment Peter knew that he wouldn't be able to take the puppy from Ashton if he tried. Anything that made Ashton smile like that needed to stay with Ashton. It was obvious the puppy made Ashton happy. Obiously Peter was thankful the puppy had come along, but at the same time he was envious. He couldn't believe that he actually felt envious of a puppy. But as far as Peter knew... he had never caused Ashton to smile like that.
Ashton looked up from the puppy, which cause Peter to tilt his head. "I thought about it," Peter answered, referring to the name. "I couldn't come up with anything good." He watched Ashton interact with the puppy. Once again Peter found that he was unable to force himself. "You know... you're right. I'm young, busy with life and all that." Peter said as if it were no big deal. "Besides, I'm, um, completely irresponsible." He added. "Why don't you keep him? I mean, I think he likes you more than me." Something about the way Ashton and the puppy interacted told him that there was a little chemsitry between Ashton and the puppy. Peter didn't want to be the one to interrupt that chemistry. If Ashton wanted to give the puppy away, then he would have to find someone else to take it.
Peter drew in a deep breath, thinking about what he should do next. Should he just tell Ashton to find someone else? He had already raised the question of Ashton keeping the puppy. Peter hoped that Ashton would keep it. Ashton looked so happy... Peter didn't want that to be ruined.

Ashton shrugged. He probably would never come over unless invited or without feeling as though he was interrupting something. Ashton pet the puppy. He sighed, not really sure what his name could be. Biting his lip a bit he looked up over at Peter. Well I guess I mean.. probably just need more time. I dont really agree when parents have names picked out already before seeing their kid. It just doesnt make sense. names should fit who a person it. he nodded.
When Peter started talking about how he decided he didnt want the puppy Ashton stilled, his hand mid pet on the puppy. He looked up at him a frown touching his lips and his brows coming together a little. What?{/b] he shook his head. but you said.... he licked his lips and turned towards the bed, his eyes focusing on a spot on the comforter.
What am I suppose to do now? I cant trust anyone else to take him.. he looked back at Peter and shook his head, not commenting on Peters comment about the dog liking him. He walked over and managed to thrust the dog out towards Peter. Take him.. please. he said. You keep him, if you need to Ill.. I dont know.. Ill come over and ... like take him on walks and crap when you cant.. he shrugged as if that was a huge sacrifice. Just... I cant keep him. Im Allergic anyway.. that was a big fat lie, but it had come out.
Ashton was determined not to keep the puppy even though he wanted to and his actions said so as well, but he wouldnt let the dog be exposed to him like that. He would probably get hit by a car or something else and the dog deserved to be with someone who wouldnt ultimately bring its downfall.
Come on can you really say no to this face?He asked lifting the puppy more up near his face again. Hes cute and cuddly and adorable.. you guys have a lot in common. he tilted his head. It was a natural slip and he hadnt realized hed said it. You could rub his tummy talk to him... um.. bathe him... Puppys are fun to bathe.. he added again.
If peter was truly too busy he could take care of him in a way as long as the puppy stayed at Peters. It would atleast make him feel better and at the same time he wouldnt be giving the puppy up wholly.

Peter nodded in agreement, "Yeah, probably just need more time." He mused, continuing to watch Ashton and the puppy. Peter couldn't stop thinking about that smile. It was the happiest smile that Peter had seen on Ashton since meeting him. There had been smirks and a couple of grins, but Peter wasn't sure that he had seen an actual smile like that. Should he ruin that by taking the one thing that had caused it away from Ashton? Of course Ashton could come see the puppy any time he wanted. Peter wouldn't be so stingy. It seemed like a logical move... turning the offer down. Ashton looked happy with the puppy.
But as soon as Peter said those things he wanted to take them back immediately. Peter frowned as Ashton frowned. Had he read Ashton wrong? That was entirely possible. Peter bit his lip as he leaned against the wall. Peter sighed, thinking that he really needed to learn how to insert foot in mouth and move on. Ashton was throwing so many mixed signals that Peter wasn't sure that he could keep up with him. He was having a bit of a hard time. When Ashton said that he couldn't trust anyone else to take the puppy Peter felt horrible. As much as Peter felt like he could trust people easily... he was guarded a little because he didn't believe himself to be a good person to trust fully.
As Ashton walked toward him Peter opened his mouth to say something, but Ashton had already shoved the puppy toward him. He hated it that it sounded like Ashton was begging him to take the puppy. Peter felt his will power breaking. Besides, if Ashton was allergic, then he really shouldn't have a puppy. He looked at Ashton uneasily, trying to decide whether he needed to take it or not. People could get allergy shots these days, right? It wasn't the puppy's cute face Peter couldn't resist, though that was a facor, but Ashton's. Peter sighed, feeling what will power he had crumble. He couldn't stand it anymore.
"Okay," Peter finally gave in. "I'll take care of him. I promise." He paused looking from Ashton to the adorable puppy. "But you have to promise to help out." Peter added, realizing that it would give him the perfect opportunity to see Ashton more often. "I don't know if I can do it on my own." Peter admitted, "I've never had a pet." Peter didn't want to screw things up more than he already had. As much as Peter loved animals he had never had to take care of one. He would really need some guidence on that one. "But he can stay here..." Peter smiled, "Look at him, he has more in common with me than I thought. We both enjoy your company."
Peter reached out, taking the puppy slowly from Ashton, holding the little guy against his chest. He pet the puppy with a smile, wrinkling his nose as it licked his cheek. "He is super adorable... and cuddly." He said, softening up a little bit. Peter stepped closer to Ashton so that Ashton could still reach the puppy. "You can't think of anything for a name?"

When Peter agreed he sighed with releif and nodded. good. he looked at the puppy and then nodded .Yeah well I said Id come by to help you take care of him. he looked at him as if Peter had just called him a liar. He shrugged. It really isnt that hard as long as you dont fuck up. I mean treat them how youd want to be treated, or how you would treat your children. Ashton looked back up at Peter. Of course I mean you'll have to do some kind of altering to fit a dog, but for the most part yeah. Just feed and water them, but not too much dont want them to be over weight. Walk them play with them and make sure they know they're loved. And you cant you know... hit them. If you want to punish them I mean you can smack their bottom lightly and then tell them no firmly. I dont know I've never trained a dog before, but just... I dotn know dont abuse them. he knew Peter wouldnt.
In fact Ashton kind of felt like an idiot now, like hed just read Peter the riot act when he didnt deserve it. He didnt meant to it just came out.
Ashton snorted and looked up. Yeah... sure.. he rolled his eyes when Peter had made the comment that he and the puppy both liked his company. Once he had taken the puppy, Ashton sighed and rubbed his arms, crossing them over his chest and watched him a moment.
Um.. yeah.. I dont see how anyone could just ... he stopped and looked up at him. Yeah... I um.. he stopped again and shook his head. Nevermind.. he reached out and scratched the puppy behind his ear. He should probably tell Peter the truth to where hed gotten the puppy, but he didnt want to risk Peter making him take him back. No.. I cant think of anything... he tilted his head. Maybe... maybe.. um... how about hobo...? he looked up at him a slight smirk on his lips.
It kind of fits him... he shrugged. Im not good with thinking of names... he said. He stroked the puppy again who seemed to be falling asleep on Peters shoulder.
Hey did you um.. think of a song yet? he asked him, changing the subject.

As Ashton gave him the run down of how to treat an animal Peter. Peter was sure that he didn't need to hear any of this. He would never hurt an animal intentionally. Even Taylor's cat that scratched Eleanore had gotten off easy. But Peter didn't interrupt Ashton. He wanted Ashton to finish because he figured that Ashton would feel better about it if he got eerything off his chest. Peter was the same way in that reguard. Sometimes he just couldn't help it. What he wanted to say was going to be heard no matter what. But there were times when Peter just needed to hold back and let other people share. This was one of them. He felt like he owed it to Ashton whether he really did or didn't.
Peter chuckled at Ashton's reaction to his comment about liking his company. He was surprised that he had been able to be so bold about it. Peter wondered what Ashton was trying to say. He had sort of trailed off and changed the flow of conversation. It was confusing. There were so many times that Ashton would start to say something, but trail off before he was finished, passing it off as nothing. Peter wanted to know what was going on in Ashton's head just so that he could understand the boy. There was nothing like being completely in the dark. Sometimes he felt like he could read a little into Ashton, but over all he really didn't know that he could ever tell what might be running through Ashton's head.
Looking down as Ashton scratched the puppy, Peter smiled a warm sort of smile. "Hobo, huh? I like it." Hobo barked as if in agreement and Peter laughed. "I think he likes it too." Peter looked up, trailing his fingers down Hobo's back. "Where did you find him? Did he wander up to the institution or did you find him out in the city?" All Ashton had said was that he had found the puppy. There had been no details given as to where. His brown eyes shifted back to Hobo, who seemed to be falling asleep in his arms. That wasn't hard for even most human beings. Peter gave unnaturally comfortable hugs. It was the very reason Taylor and Cait considered him to be much the same as a cuddly teddy bear.
Peter frowned when Ashton asked him about the song. He hadn't had any luck as far as the song was conerned. "I was thinking about that just a while ago actually." Peter said, looking down to Hobo, petting the little puppy gently. "I've got nothing." He admitted, "I just don't have it... the feeling, I mean. It's like... gone right now." Peter's mind wondered off, trying to come up with ways to get it back, but it was drawing blank. At least there were no thoughts that would be reasonable. "I hope I can pull it together by Saturday." He was worried that he might not have it finished. Peter wasn't sure he wanted to make up a song on th espot. That would suck if it didn't turn out well. He wanted to get it done a little early so that he could work with it a little bit.

AShton did feel slightly better after giving him the run down on how to care about a pet even if he was sure that Peter hadnt needed it. Besides it was helping him work through just exactly what he was feeling right now. Granted he still couldnt put his finger on it, but he had needed the little bit of time.
Ashtons eyes shot up to Peters as he said he liked the name. He was about to ask really When Hobo barked. Ashton laughed lightly and a slow grin/smirk came to his lips and he tilted his head to run a hand over the top of Hobos head. Yeah... guess so. he licked his lips pulling his bottom lip in with his tongue. Hmm... he watched Hobo yawn and snuggle against Peter. Yeah... he nodded as he affirmed to himself that it was a good thing Peter was taking Hobo. He seemed to like Peter, then again he was a puppy and what did Puppies know. They would love anyone that gave them attention. He wondered how much attention Hobo got at the kennel. Hed looked so lonely looking up at Ashton with those big sad puppy eyes.
When he'd seen Hobo and hed looked into his eyes he just seemed to know. Hobo was adorable and quiet and obviously an amazingly cute puppy, but he wasnt a favorite. Everyone liked the golden retriever and the other mixed breed one that had a curious look, one ear cropped up and the other flopped over half way all the time. Some would stop at Hobos and oo and aw at him, but once one of the other dogs go jealous theyd bark till they got the attention. The other dogs were older didnt need to be trained and always wanted to play. Hobo was still a puppy and liked to sleep. He let the little kids pull at his ear and tail, but that wasnt enough for their parents to let them adopt him.
Ashton had sort of zoned out thinking about how Hobo back at the kennel so he only caught the tail end of what Peter said. ashton blinked and looked at him with a slightly confused frown. Huh?... what? he asked as he reached out to scratch behind Hobos ear unable to resist touching him for any length of time.
Ah.... oh.. he replied, making a wierd side lip face as he tried to think for a moment. Sorry man.. that must suck. When is your... thing again? Couple days? he asked looking up at him. He vaguely knew.... well okay so he did know. He knew the exact day and time, but he was trying to play cool. He was not going to admit that he randomly wish the days would go faster or that he really couldnt wait to see him perform... like actually perform in front of people. He also didnt want to let him know that he wondered odd things like if Peter sweat when he was nervous and if he did how hot it would look when he was up on stage and the lights hit him just right for Ashton to see it glisten off his skin. The image turned into how he looked during sex and the feel of his skin under his fingers.
Ashton bit down on the inside of his cheek to stop the flow of thoughts. He didnt want to think of that right now because he knew if he continued hed have to move and find a way to casually cover himself up. The last thing he wanted was for peter to think he was turned on so easily by him. People could use that shit over your head. He hoped it was very unlikely that Peter would do that, but you could never be 100% sure.

Peter gently stroked Hobo's back, making gentle scratching motions as he watched Ashton. He was sure that Ashton hadn't heard a think he had said. The way Ashton seemed to almost zone out told Peter he wasn't going to find out where Ashton had gotten the puppy at. Peter looked down to Hobo and smiled, scrunching up his nose as Hobo raised up his little head and licked him. He decided that it didn't matter where Ashton had found the little guy. Peter loved him already. For once Peter would have a buddy that could stay with him twenty four seven and not just during daylight hours or not hanging with a boy friend. He was amazed to discover how lonely he had really been over the last month or so withTaylor and his new project and Cait spending every waking minute with Malachi. The thought had never occurred to him before. Peter only had two friends that he knew he could trust... and they couldn't always be there. But Hobo...well, Peter had a good feeling about Hobo.
Already imagining nights where Peter would curl up on the bed, Hobo curled up next to him, head rested on his thy. Peter could imagine being able to tell Hobo anything that he didn't think he could tell anyone else and Hobo would never be able to tell anyone. Plus, dogs were usually the most loyal of the animals. He knew that his time would not be wasted taking care of Hobo. Besides, Peter didn't think he could bring himself to say no to Ashton again. He looked up, realizing that Ashton had begun to talk again. Peter was lucky to have heard what he said. "Yeah, it's Saturday night." Peter answered without thinking. "I don't know what I'm going to do if I can't come up with another one by Saturday." As Peter's eyes scanned back over Ashton's features they widened. "Wait, I got it!" He said excitedly.
"I mean, that's if this actually works." Peter said more to himself, looking back down at Hobo. "The other day someone wanted me to help pull together some cover songs with him. Maybe he can help me out and co-write a song." Peter knew that he was rambling and had no doubt that Ashton probably didn't want to know about the cover song thing. But it was an idea and saying it outloud made it seem more possible for Peter. "I mean... if I find some inspiration before then, then I won't have to ask him. Inspiration is hard to find though." Lies. Peter had inspiration standing right there in front of him. He was just too afraid to take that inspiration and use it the way he wanted. "Unless," Peter mused with a small smile, "Unless you'd like to help me? You know... write a song together."
The idea sounded extremely exciting to Peter. He would hate himself if he didn't at least offer, though. It was important to Peter that his inspiration come from the right place. If Ashton didn't want to, then Peter would either have to write an uninspired piece of shit or ask the Steven guy to help him. Whichever way it played out Peter still needed a song by Saturday. Suddenly he wished that he had kept some of his other stuff. Biting his lip softly, Peter waited for an answer from Ashton. From other conversations with Ashton he had been able to put together the fact that Ashton had some musical experience whether he would admit it or not. Peter kind of wanted to dig down deep and help Ashton rediscover that. But he also had to remember that it wasn't his place.

We should get him... a bed or something. he said tilting his head to the side as he watched Hobo. Hes asleep... he mused and grinned moving around to Peters shoulder so he could see Hobos face. He lowered his head so he was nose to nose with Hobo, his chin was practically against Peters shoulder and he had rested a hand on Peters older shoulder for balance. Hes so peaceful. Wouldnt it be nice to be a puppy. he said as he pressed a light kiss on Hobos nose, hopping not to wake him. Ashton stopped a bit and a frown came on his face. I mean... the ones that are in okay places... ya know. he shrugged. Whatever.. he said brushing away his thoughts. Ignore that... he straightened up and stepped away again.
Ashton moved and took a seat on the end of Peters bed as he explained it was saturday night, though his head turned up again when Peter got a thought about what he was going to do. He rasied his brows as if asking what and then listened as he continued. Ashtons mouth thinned withtout realizing it as Peter said that he might be able to co-write some song with this kid that wanted to do some covers with him. he didnt know why that bothered him, it was just... he fetl like writing was personal to him so he figured it was to Peter and the thought of him co-writing with someone else that wasnt him... wait! He did not just think that. Peter could co-write with whoever he wanted to. oh.. was his reply.
Ashton nodded his head, his eyes dropping to the floor. He knew about inspiration, or lack of really. Ashton pursed his lips out some, and crossed his arms loosly in his lap, his mind becoming emo on himself and he hated it. He didnt want to talk about this anymore. That was until Peters words cut through his dulldrums and his head snapped up so fast he winced at the sharp pain as it cracked. What? he blinked as if he'd heard him wrong. you... are asking me? he licked his lips and fake coughed. I cant write. I .... he stopped and shook his head looking away from Peter. No no.. you need someone as talented as you that can match your.... yeah. he shrugged and fell back onto the bed so he could look up at the cieling. He didnt understand himself, he was just grumpy over him writing with someone else and then he actually asked him and he.... he says no. It was true though, Peter was seriously talented and Ashton was not. He wouldnt be any help so whats the point.
Ask Hobo. Ill bet you he has more talent in his little nose then I do. Hed be able to help you and besides. Hes pretty inspirational .. no?he propped himself up on his elbows as he gave Peter a questioning look as if daring him to disagree.

Peter nodded in response to Ashton's suggestion of getting Hobo a bed. That would seem appropriate. He actually wouldn't mind Hobo sleeping with him. The one thing Peter knew, just from talking to people who had previously owned pets, was that if there was a tight enough bond, the animal would want to stay close to the owner at all times. Peter kind of wanted to experience that. But at the same time he didn't want to risk possibly tossing and turning too much and knocking the poor little guy to the floor. That would just not sit well with Peter. Yeah- a bed would probably be the better idea anyway. Silly, childish thoughts couldn't be so prominent to him. Not at this point when Peter was sure that he needed to do some major growing up. The main inspiration behind that thought was that he wanted people to take him seriously as a musician. But at the same time Peter just wanted to walk up on stage and be his usual, free self. Peter just wasn't so sure how that would go.
Peter looked down when Ashton said that Hobo was asleep. He couldn't help but smile. Not once did Peter flinch when he felt Ashton's hand rest on his shoulder. Nor did it bother Peter to have Ashton so close. It felt natural to him. That feeling was something that Peter wouldn't trade, though. He couldn't ignore that part. When Ashton stepped away, Peter felt a chill where the heat had been. His eyes followed Ashton as he sat on the end of the bed. He leaned back against the wall, gently petting the sleeping puppy. When the subject of song writing came up, Peter couldn't help but worry. He still needed to come up with something. Peter hadn't even expected himself to ask Ashton to do a song with him, but somehow it ended up happening. A small frown spread over his lips when Ashton said he couldn't write. It was one time when Peter just wasn't sure that he could believe Ashton.
Mentally picturing the notebook Ashton had been carrying, Peter doubted that Ashton had zero writing abilities. Then again, Peter had never seen the inside of the notebook. For all he knew it could have been random doodles. He stopped himself from getting too upset. He was a little disappointed, but he didn't want to risk upsetting Ashton over something stupid. Sometimes Peter did wonder about what was in that notebook, but it wasn't his place to ask. The frown soon faded into a smile, "Oh yeah, Hobo is very inspirational." He added with a small laugh. He didn't want to laugh too hard. Hobo was still sleeping soundly and Peter didn't want to wake him up. Peter shrugged, "Hey, um, you know... it's fine if you don't want to." Peter said as he slowly walked over to where Ashton sat on the end of the bed and sat down next to him.
"Thanks," Peter said with a smile, "For Hobo." He didn't want Ashton to think that he wasn't thankful for Hobo. Peter knew that Hobo would begin a new stage of his life. Already he was thinking of things he could do to make his place a better place for Hobo. As he thought about it Peter was shocked to realize how many dangerous things he really did. The last time Ashton had come over he had been able to walk right in because Peter had a bad habit of leaving the door unlocked. Then again, Peter was a lot more trusting than most people were. He wanted to believe the good in people wouldn't let them sneak in his room and kill him.

Ashton glanced at him as he felt the bed dip and knew hed sat down. He could see Hobo and he smirked. Yeah.. well... maybe you can write something about puppies and rainbows... maybe throw in a unicorn.' ashton snorted a bit at that. Put a hippy beat to it... like... back in the day.. old fokey music.. he reached out to trail his hands over hobos fur.
Ashton just nodded. Sorry.. I would help if I actually could, but... I would probably just do more damage.. or well not be any help at all.. he shrugged. Ashton kind of wanted to help, he hadnt dealt with music in a long time, but it had always been something hed always enjoyed. Glancing away he dropped his hand and then fell back again, his arms going behind his head to pillow them.
"hm...' he nodded. "yeah.... sure' he said. He really should forwarn Peter, but he didnt really think it would be that big of a deal. They were far from the Kennel, dogs all looked the same too. Well those kinds, now that he had a name and they dget him a collar and tags, theres no way theyd be found out.
Any other person he probably would have just left it, but this wasnt just any person. This was Peter... and this was Hobo. Hobo... hed only had him for two days and already hed wiggled himself into Ashtons heart. He wanted to keep him, hug him and play with him, all the things hed missed out on the last time, but he didnt dare let himself. Stuff like that was too good to be true... much like Peter. If he ever let himself actually claim them, or let them mean more then casual friends if that, then something would happen and it wouldnt last. He just knew it. It had always been that way.
He looked back at Peter with hobo and he knew he didnt want hobo to be taken from peter either. He needed to tell him so that way he could be on the look out. Sitting himself up again he stood up and then walked over to lean against his desk. Um... Pete... he looked at him. About hobo... If you see signs... dont call the number. he licked his lips his arms crossing over his chest. If you have him out avoid areas that the pictures might be around.... he ran a hand over the back of his neck. "okay? he had looked down but looked back up again as he asked him that.
He wasnt just protecting Peter, but himself as well. He didnt want Hobo to be taken away. He knew he couldnt really afford to keep a dog around, with all the vet bills and stuff, but he would make it happen. He already planned on paying even though hed given HObo to Peter.

Peter chuckled at Ashton's response about writing a song about puppies and rainbows. If only a song could be that easy. He knew that writing a song wasn't as hard as he was making it and it wasn't as easy as puppies and rainbows. But there had to be something special in it. Peter didn't want to write a song that would mean nothing to him. He wanted people to hear the lyrics and be able to read through him. It was the only way Peter was able to bring out the fifty percent of him that didn't get to show too often. But maybe that was it... maybe it was was all in the fifty percent that he spent most of his time hiding for the benefit of other people. One of Peter's faults was that he loved people too much. He would rather hide his own misfortune and appear to be completely happy in order to help his friends out of their own funks. Peter rarely did such a thing for selfish reasons, but he was convinced it was the right thing to do.
Somehow Peter knew that he shouldn't be surprised that Ashton declined him. Peter wasn't sure what he was expecting. It had seemed like every situation they had been in Ashton had tried to find a way out of it. There was that one time in the lounge when ashton had invited him out to eat. That time it had been Peter who was unsure. He was still pretty unsure about his real feelings for Ashton. Peter had experienced love. Alex had cheated on him, yes, but that didn't mean that Peter didn't love the boy. It as hard to forget a feeling like that. With Ashton Peter was getting mixed signals. Sometimes he felt like he and Ashton were on the same page, but other times he felt like the two of them were miles apart. That that was only made more real when Ashton fell back on the bed.
Peter watched as Ashton suddenly moved toward the desk. He tilted his head, wondering what Ashton was up to. Usually when Ashton moved like that he was getting ready to do something completely unexpected or completely change the situation. A confused look washed over Peter's expression as Ashton spoke of not calling numbers on signs. What? Peter nodded, slightly confused. Then he remembered Hobo was found. There was a chance that some other family could be missing their puppy. Peter felt bad about that, like he could be the one that was holding back some little kid's happiness. He tried not to think about it. Suddenly Peter wondered where Ashton had found the puppy. He didn't think Ashton would steal an animal, but the way Ashton was talking... it didn't seem like he had just found the puppy randomly.
"Okay, don't call numbers on signs and avoid areas that might have signs up." Peter repeated as if trying to make himself understand it. "Um, Ashton..." He looked down at Hobo before gently laying the puppy on the bed. Hobo seemed to fret a little at first, before curling into a little ball, continuing to sleep. Peter stood and walked toward Ashton. "I promise I won't do any of that, but this is the part where you tell me why I don't need to do any of those things." He knew why he was agreeing not to do those things and that was because he selfishly wanted to keep Hobo. Peter, having never had an animal of his own to take care of, was excited about the idea.

Ashton didnt know what he wanted. He knew that part of him obviously really liked Peter while another... bigger part warded him away from it. That part told him he wasnt good enough, that bad things would happen, that it was a lost cause because it wouldnt take long before PEter would realise the mistake he made in even wasting time on Ashton.
Ashton would save them both the pain and humiliation from it. Unfortunately he kept finding himself doing stupid things like practically admitting things to Peter, or inviting him out or.. well a lot of things. Ashton just needed to cut everything off and drop him. No, hes tried that he could never go through with it. He was so frustrated with the fact he couldnt control himself all the time around Peter. It just wasnt possible.
Ashton sighed when he started about the dog. he knew he couldnt just tell him bits and peices and the fact that Peter had moved so he was near him, didnt help. As always his body woke, becoming very aware of peters body. He licked his lips before clearing his throat, his hand squeezing the back of his neck. He wished that Peter hadnt walked over to him, he needed to be able to get this out but it was a lot harder with him that close.
Ashton looked away and then sighed looking back up at him.might as well just rip it off... like a band aide. See. the thing is.. I um.. I .. kind of maybe got him from a kennel.' he looked up at Peter then. I dont see why they would care, its one less dog they have to worry about and he was getting ignored. he shrugged, his voice never elevated or anything. Just stayed the same as he seemed to look indifferent about the whole situation.
"i personally havent seen things around and you said you hadnt, so I think you'll be okay. I dont really think they are going to do anythin bout it all, you know?"Ashton looked back down. I just figured I should tell you, since you're keeping him and all.' his eyes darted quickly to the ball of fur that was curled up on Peters covers. Didnt want you to think you were doing the right thin by calling the numbers. he drew them back to Peter. If you did... Hobo will be gone just like that.. he said and snapped his fingers to emphasise it.
Petere was glad when he had said he wouldnt do that, but now that he knows the entire thing he wonders if Peter will change his mind. He couldnt think of why he would change his thoughts how anyone could let Hobo go after being around him for even the briefest of times.
Ashton crossed his arms over his chest again and let his gaze fall on Peter yet again. They were a cross of challenging him to say he was going to get a hold of the autorities and also a bit of slight fear which he soon covered. That fear was the fact that if Peter did turn Hobo in, hed be proving ashton right about his feelings on things he cared about. Still gonna take care of him?' he asked firmly.
